Lottery Process (Modesto and Salida Campuses)

A parent or legal guardian is required to attend one of the mandatory enrollment meetings prior to receiving a student interest form. Meetings are specific to each campus.

Student interest forms will be accepted during a publicly advertised open enrollment period each spring for enrollment in the following school year. Following the open enrollment period each year,
interest forms shall be counted to determine whether any grade level has received more applications than it has availability. In the event that this happens, GVA will hold a public random drawing to determine enrollment for the impacted grade level, with the exception of existing students, who are guaranteed enrollment in the following school year.

Admission preference, in the case of a public random drawing, shall be given in the following priority order:
1. Children of Great Valley Academy Staff
2. Sibling of currently enrolled students
3. Children or grandchildren of Great Valley Academy Board members
4. Sylvan Union School District Residents (Modesto Campus) or Salida Union School District Residents (Salida Campus)
5. All other applicants

At the conclusion of the public random drawing, all students who were not granted admission due to capacity shall be given the option to put their name on a waiting list according to their draw in the lottery. This waiting list will allow students the option of enrollment in the case of an opening during the school year.
